Jack Mezo

Born in Duquoin, Illinois, 24 August 1921. Enlisted in the Army Air Corps on 24 June 1941 and attended basic training at Selfridge Field, Michigan. As Air Mechanic, Propeller Specialist and Crew Chief, he served with the 118th at Kunming, Chanyi, Chengkung, Kweilin, Liuchow, Suichwan and was at Hsu Pu when the war ended. Left China 27 September 1945 and was discharged 10 November 1945.

Including service time, he was employed in the aircraft business for almost forty years, the last twenty-five as a propulsion technician, administrator, and supervisor in the engineering test lab at McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis. His work covered aircraft, spacecraft, and missiles.

Was active in the VFW and Military Order of the Cooties (Honorary Degree of the VFW). Along with his wife, he was a Veterans Administration Voluntary Service Worker at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Medical Center in St. Louis.
