USS Alderamin (AK-116)

Eleven members of the 118th were transferred to the 75th Fighter Squadron at the end of the war. Of the eleven, nine were pilots and two were enlisted men. The squadron embarked on the USS Alderamin 10 Dec 1945 at Shanghai, China.  On the 11th, they dropped down the Huangpu River on their way home. Captain Lee Chadwick, historian of the unit, remembers the voyage as being rather dull with the exception being a typhoon that caught them several days into the trip. First glance of the homeland was 3 JAN 1946 as they awoke in the Straight of Juan de Fuca. They were to dock at Seattle, but ended up at Tacoma later that night.  The 75th Fighter Squadron was deactivated 05 JAN 1946.
