'Buzz,' as he was known in the squadron, was born 26MAR1920 in Watertown, MA and graduated from Belmont High in 1939. After graduation, he worked as a bell hop and for American Airlines at East Boston Airport. He attended college at the University of Alabama for one year and then enlisted as a private in the Army Air Corps on 19MAR1942.
Francis was killed 16OCT1943 while on a training mission to Johnson City, TN. His aircraft crashed near Hampton, TN in Carter county.
