Olen E. Ward

Second Lieutenant, U. S. Army Air Corps. Olen was born November 14, 1920 in Wayne, OK. Enlisted September 26, 1938 in the Oklahoma National Guard; served with the 45th Division from September 16, 1940, regular Army, until joining the Air Corps on May 11, 1942. He was part of the Gulf Coast Training pipeline and received his wings in January 1943. Died while piloting a P-51 on November 16, 1943, near Key Field, Meridian, Mississippi on a training exercise just one month before the squadron left for India. He was survived by a wife.
