Normand R. Gervais

Normand was born 14 DEC 1918 in Phenix, RI. He graduated from Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI and New England Technical College. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in January 1942. He was trained in intrasquadron radio communications and attended Repair Radio School. His most vivid recollections are the evacuations of Kweilin and Liuchow, especially of the latter as getting out was dependent on the weather. Other stations include Assam, Kunming, and Luliang. Discharged in December 1945 with the rank of Seargent. He spent twenty-five years as a salesman for MetLife, before retiring in 1982. Normand died in 2006 at the age of 87.
