Alexander MacNeal

Mac was born on 06 March 1917 in Willimantic, CT. He enlisted in the Connecticut Air National Guard on 24 February 1941. Mac served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the motor pool and was also a mechanic. He spent time in India and China. Mac received numerous medals during his distinguished military career among them the Bronze Star. After the war, he returned to Connecticut. He moved to Enfield, CT in 1955 and resided there until his death in 2007. He was formerly employed by the A.C. Hines Company of Hartford as an auto mechanic and the State of Connecticut, also as an auto mechanic, retiring in 1982. Mac was also awarded the Hometown Hero Award from the Town of Enfield in 2004. He was a member of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department District #1 from 1957 to 2005 serving as Deputy Chief since 1967. He was also a member of CSEA, Enfield AARP #1209, VFW #3123 Windsor Locks Smalley Brothers Post, and the AMVETS Post 18 of Enfield.
